If you love keeping up with the latest trends and pride yourself on your fashion sense, Antwerp is a fantastic shopping destination. We have a great selection of high-street, high-end and boutique stores to choose from so there is something to suit every style and budget. Here are our must-visit shopping areas:

Diamond Square

As soon as you step out of Central Station, you are immediately surrounded by some of Antwerp’s most prestigious stores in the Station District. There are a whopping 1700 diamond companies and 4 diamond exchanges in this area, making it the ideal place to find the sparkler you’ve always dreamed of. It’s also a great place to go engagement ring shopping as a couple. Make sure your diamond is marked with an ‘Antwerp’s Most Brilliant’ label which is proof of reliability and quality.

100% Belgian

Many famous Belgian designers who shot to fame in the 80s have decided to return to their roots to open flagship stores. These are dotted around the different shopping zones and districts in the capital. Atelier Solarshop is near central station and stocks Jan-Jan Van Essche’s line of ethical clothing and features lines from Antwerp’s emerging designers too. Dries Van Noten has a store at Nationalestraat 16, showcasing the bold prints and fantastic window displays which earned him the notoriety he enjoys today. There are a huge number of fashion-forward concept stores around the city if you know where to look.

Meir

Antwerp’s main shopping district is home to all of the well-known high-street favourites, such as H&M and Zara. You will find all of the major international chain stores and usual high-street names here, a staple for any big city. The area itself is surrounded by the beautiful Rococo buildings and is pedestrianised for the comfort and safety of shoppers. You will also find Stadsfeestzaal, an exclusive shopping centre in the wonderfully restored City Festival Hall. Well worth a visit for bargain hunters.

Antwerp’s markets

Antwerp has always been a traditional market town. Our inhabitants are notoriously chilled out so laid-back market shopping really suits us. We not only have weekly markets but monthly and annual markets in celebration of occasions and special weekends. These markets vary hugely in what they sell, everything from fresh and organic produce to ornaments, clothing and flowers. Do yourself a favour and find out which market is on and where before you arrive. You’re sure to find a unique trinket to bring home to remember your visit to Antwerp.

Sunday Shopping

A word of warning to shoppers visiting Antwerp, all of our shops and centres close on Sundays so don’t expect to get much done! If you are lucky enough to be visiting on the first Sunday of the month, however, you are in for a treat. On this special day you can shop as normal but you will also be treated to live music and dancing, street theatre, food stalls and a brass band among many other special events.

Make sure you stay in the centre of the action for your shopping trip to Antwerp. At Astoria Hotel Antwerp we offer unrivalled luxury in relaxing and comfortable surrounds. Our best available rates are only available when you book directly with us via phone or online. Happy shopping!
