There are 170+ different nationalities and cultures living in Antwerp so our culinary offering is very diverse! If you are looking for the most delicious, great quality food Antwerp has to offer, check out our culinary bucketlist:
Antwerp is not especially renowned for its breakfast but we do appreciate a hot cup of coffee to start the day off well. Cafematic Antwerpen has a good selection of hot and cold breakfast items along with a delicious cup of coffee before you set off on your morning of adventuring. The decor is cute, vintage chic and the coffee is hot and rich. Most of the items on the menu are homemade so you can be sure a lot of love and care went into each bite. We don’t know what the special ingredient is but their banana bread is better than any we’ve ever tasted!
Ernest Bistro, just 20-minutes walk from us, is in the top 10 lunch spots on Trip Advisor and once you enjoy a meal here you’ll soon see why. The food has a real homemade feel to it and is hearty and wholesome. The restaurant itself is small and has a cozy relaxed feel from the moment you enter. Their prices are reasonable and they tell you in advance that most of their food is freshly made using fresh ingredients and therefore they may run out from time to time. Luckily the menu is varied so you will find something delicious to suit you. The goat’s cheese salad is an all-round favourite.
Bourla Restaurant Antwerp is an all-round favourite for casual drinks, a light lunch or an elaborate dinner. The name Bourla is a tribute to the closeby Bourla Theatre and also makes it an ideal location for a pre-show meal. They have really spacious terrace, the staff are friendly and always ready with suggestions and the food is fantastic. The servings are very generous, especially the steak which is always cooked to perfection. As a dinner destination in Antwerp, it’s a definite and has a very deserving place on our culinary bucket list.
If you’ve had enough of the food in Antwerp, you may be looking for a nightcap to fill your sweet tooth. We are lucky to have a multitude of cocktail bars which specialise in making the most outrageously good dessert cocktails. Dogma Cocktails is a hip and happening spot near the river which specialises in the most mouthwatering and innovative drinks imaginable. Didier – the owner of the bar- has a great knowledge of mixology and absolutely loves his trade as do all of the staff. There is often jazzy live music to accompany the speakeasy style of the bar.
